Internet Explorer 8 Beta

How time flies folks. Not so long ago I was talking about how much we will have to wait for the new version of Internet Exlorer and now…it seems that the first BETA of IE8 is out now. From what I can see, the new version will be fully compliant to CSS 2.1, will resolve all the Interoperability and compatibility problems, a built in Developer bar (which is standard in Firefox from some time) plus some other interesting stuff, like the fact that Internet Explorer 8 Developer Beta uses the Internet Explorer 8 standard mode layout engine by default, but, by clicking on the emulate Internet Explorer 7 button, users can choose when they use the strict mode which supports the Internet Explorer 7 compatible layout engine to retain compatibility with existing sites.
Overall, the new Internet Explorer 8 Beta looks like it’s finally learned something from Firefox, but i think that it will still remain a poor and ugly browser.

Anyway, since everybody’s talking about it, of course that fake logos and pictures appeared and even more: fark.com also organized a contest for the best photoshoped comic/picture. Yahoo up, MS down

Funny thing: after the announcement of the giant Microsoft to acquire another giant (Yahoo!), the stock price of the Yahoo increased, which it’s kinda normal. But the stock price for Microsoft…..went down and looks like it’s still going. It seems like Microsoft investors are not very happy about this intention to buy Yahoo, maybe because Yahoo it’s now almost on the Investors blacklist. Interesting battle anyway with only one possible winner: Google :). Time will tell.

Microsoft to buy Yahoo?

According to CNN, Microsoft announced today that it has made a proposal to Yahoo! to acquire all the shares of Yahoo! common stock for per share consideration of $31 representing a total equity value of approximately 44.6 billion dollars. Microsoft’s proposal would allow the Yahoo! shareholders to choose if they want to receive cash or a fixed number of shares of Microsoft common stock, with the total consideration payable to Yahoo! shareholders consisting of one-half cash and one-half Microsoft common stock.

That means that from now one, Internet Explorer and Windows Vista will be delivered with Yahoo Toolbar installed? Good thing that I’m a Firefox fan :)
