It’s been a while since I started this “Gugle Project” and sadly, I didn’t have enough time to develop it some more. Time is still a problem for me, but still, from time to time, I put some fun articles on the fun section of the site. The interesting part is that on this section, some fake facts about the allmighty Chuck Norris attracted the most traffic ever. Also, it is the most commented post with over 60 comments. So good old Chuck Norris still got it

Well folks, it’s been a while (again) since my last visit around here. Even if I am very busy, I cand find some time to work at this project, and as u can see, I’ve done a little redesign of the page. Now I gave up to that Googlish look and I’ve tried to adopt a unique visual aspect of the site. Also, I added some new services, besides the main focus: Searching and smiling :). I’m not a great developer, so using well known online scripts (modified of course), now Gugle.ro is offering you 3 new services:
Gugle fun - a collection of jokes and funny images/video
Gugle web directory - the name says it all
Gugle games - play free online games.
Why games, jokes and a directory? Because here in .ro (at least) those kind of sites (except maybe the directory) generate a lot of traffic and I’m trying to attract like this more and more returning visitors. But the funny thing is that the number of visitors is around 60-70 per day for a while now, and most of the visitors arrive to Gugle by searching……”gugle” :). And there is still a small amount of visitors that misspells the Google word and end up here :).
Well, now that I added these new features, I’m curious how the traffic will evolve, if it will evolve. Wish me luck :).

Well, it’s been a while since i have’t wrote around here, but I had a good reason not to :). It’s still a secret and it doesn’t have anything to do with the internet or with this page.

Anyway, since my last post, many things happend, but the most important thing is that gugle’s trafic has increased significally after one guy discovered the page and put a link on his very visted page. The result: i had one day with over 400 unique visitors. I also added a small code that is showing a short joke every time you reload a page. So from now on, you can search and smile in the same time (smiling keeps us young and healthy).

Also, i have some inbound links from others sites too, so i think (and I hope) that from now, my small project to keep growing without any help (advertiding) from me.

It’s time to expand a little bit this project and make a small web directory, since for now Gugle.ro is just a search engine and this whould fit perfectlly. Or at least this is what I’m thinking. The problem is that I’m not good at all at programming, so I’m gonna have to rely on some allready made script. Hotscripts.com is a good source of scripts and also the place where I’m going now. If any of you knows a good web directory script, please let me know.

Also, I think it’s time to redesign a little bit the main page, and slowly to try to get a new visual identity (but not too much, cauze people still believe that they’re using the real google.com). Also, ideeas are wellcomed, even if this blogs has…beter to say has not any visitors :).

Well, it’s time for me for another short report regarding this small project wich I started to love (don’t ask my why).

The number of visitors remained the same since gugle.ro has launched. But the number of queries (searches) has increased alot. And most important, the percent of returning visitors is around 45%. So no more mistake hits. Many of the hits came directlly to Gugle.ro becauze….well I don’t know why. It’s a mistery for mee to :). Maybe some of them didn’t noticed that they are on the “wrong” page and they remained with the impresion that this is the famous Google search engine that they heard about. Or maybe they like the ideea of an romanian spelling site. Anyway, for now this remains another mistery ready to be solved by Scooby Doo and his gang :).

Yesterday I celebrated 2 weeks since my little project started, and I can tell you that for now, 90% of my visitors are direct hits. The number of uniquie hits per day is still low (around 25/day) wich gives me hope that still, from 4 milions romanian internet users (as far as I know) only few or them are misspelling wrong the word Google, or they are silly enough to think that Google is spelled gugle. Now I realize that “my fears” were without any motive and taking benefit of this method to bring visitors wasn’t a bright ideea. Let’s face it, even if we, as a people, as romanians, are not seen very well in other comunyties, many Romanian people are doing a great job here, in other countries and in internationals big companies. And I can give you for now only 2 examples: Tudor Leu and Octavian Costache (Vivi) both working now for Google. But there are many others like them here, waiting to be discovered and anctious to show to the whole world what they are capable for. We are not loosers, we are not silly and we’re for sure not stupid.

This post went to another direction so I think I should stop for now, but I will be back and the project it’s still on the run. Now I have to develop it a little bit more. Ideeas are wellcomed

Well, after a quik analisys of the kewords used for searching with Gugle.ro I decided to change the language into Romanian. All the words used until now in Gugle.ro were in romanian, so i’ts clear for now that all the visitors are from Romania.

But i’m keeping this blog in english, even if it’s a little bit hard for me to make myself clear and understandable.

Well boys and girls, gugle.ro has his first link from another site: daciaclub.ro. The topic on that forum is different from what we have here, but since most of the romanian kids likes to “deform” some english words and make them more romanian “look a like”, the word gugle was mentioned a lot so one guy give it a try looking for gugle.ro and he was really surprised. I’m too.

I have to celebrate now :).

Well, after only 3 days, I can tell U that my little project has some good feedback. In other words, without any SEO programing or advertising, without any submitions to web directories or other ways of promote this site, yesterday gugle.ro had 35 unique visitors (including me) and 31 of them were direct. So what this tells us? Well, actually not much except maybe the fact that there are a few piple that are not paying attention to what they are writing in the browsers adress bar. Also, for me, this could be one way of making a SEO for a small site, of course if you don’t have in mind that you wanna do something important with your site.

But what if you can use this tricky method to build an important web comunity for surfers? You get them on your page by mistake, but can you make them come again? Or can you make the users to make a difference between the original brand and the one you’re trying to build? Is this legal? Is this MORAL? Lots of questions on wich I’m gonna have to find an answer. It worked pretty fine for Neogen.ro for example even if they’re using an stolen Image Identity to get more users and make them stay, or even if this attracted only black points from webmasters comunity. I don’t wanna become a Neogen type of thinking, I just wanna try (for now) this kind of unusual SEO (even if it’s not actually a SEO).

Anyway, I’m a newbee in web design and SEO and for now I don’t have big expectations, but I have a dream of getting Gugle.ro at least at 1000 unique visitors per week. I don’t know how and when, but at least I know where
